Cemeteries are intended to honor the memory of our love ones.  Stones are normally placed as a physical reminder of the person’s presence.   According to many. the stone symbolizes the person is not forgotten - their memory live on.

The Alabama Historical Commission’s Guide to Common Alabama Grave Markers says most of the above ground tombs we see are located in colonial period cemeteries that were influenced by the Spanish and French population who settled in the area.  Mt Calvary has several above ground tombs.

Take some time to walk among the many markers and observe the dates covered by these lives.  Reflect on what was happening during that period.  Just image how they lived during that time!  Think about how your life looks because of them.....

Your life has been enriched by the history that lives on here.....

A place to preserve history....
